Sweeping away heart disease, you can too!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

12 YEARS DEDICATED TO FIGHTING HEART DISEASE & STROKE
The Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel has bigger goals for the 2013 historic event

(Winnipeg, Manitoba) January 9, 2013 - In 2012, the Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel welcomed 48 teams to play on the river at The Forks.  Again this year, curlers will be hurling rocks across the Assiniboine River at The Forks on February 8, 9, and 10. The goal for 2013 is 64 teams, and all proceeds go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
At the young age of 39 years, Don Nixon passed away due to a heart attack in October 2012. The Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel will be dedicating this year's event to Don, for the family that misses him dearly.

"I worked with Don briefly while he was here at WCLC. It’s just a strong reminder to the public why we put on the event" says Michael Thompson, Treasurer of the Ironman Outdoor Curling Bonspiel committee.
Organizers have not only started preparing the ice for the curlers but have made extra efforts to ensure they have a great weekend. Local musicians will be taking stage, welcoming all who are participating, by playing heartwarming and toe tapping music.

Not your traditional Manitoba bonspiel, where curlers gather at the local curling rink for their scheduled draw times, but the event doesn't fall short of what bonspiels are all about - FUN! Beers will be consumed, ice will be swept, and laughter will sound within the river banks.
Early bird registration is open until January 25, with a prize draw for the teams that catch the worm. Families, friends, and co-workers are all welcome. Name your team, even dress in costume for the event, be creative.

Teams can register online at ironmancurling.com.
