The only picture I was allowed to take was at the end, I didn't want to risk being kicked out. |
If you don't know him yet, look him up, Russell Peters. He was born and raised in Canada, his parents immigrated from India in 1965. This man has been selling out arenas worldwide and his world tour came to a stop here in Winnipeg.
He's been featured on the Comedy Network with his Red, White, and
Brown world tour along with many others. Although I have been laughing at his
jokes for years, there is nothing like seeing and hearing his stand up in
person.
Not only was his opening act funny, all the while pushing the
limits on borderline offensive to nations and cultures, but Peters has a way of
turning anything that is downright insulting into a funny spectacle.
The content of his act was in the same general subjects as his
regular stand up; however, the jokes were original and nothing short of gut
busting humorous. He talked about his dad and his mannerisms, discussed having
sex with women as well as masturbation, and not to mention that he picked on people
in the crowd - and that was just to get the ball rolling.
Of course, like any good comedian, he made good fun of our city
and its surrounding communities. There wasn't a dry eye in the arena, from
laughing hard enough to tear up.
The two hour show ended abruptly, but if you've seen his stand up before,
it's the norm for him. We laughed so hard we cried, we made friends with those
sitting around us, and we truly enjoyed the evening. Russell Peters has
accomplished it yet again, he's made it possible for me to feel the muscles in
my face - Thanks for the workout.
