Now that the sun is shining, it's time to get out of hibernation and enjoy the sunshine. What is there to do in the city of Winnipeg on the weekends. PLENTY!
Over the summer months, I will be bringing to you a list of events to choose from, child friendly for the parents out there, and some that are for adults only; because we all need to let loose and have a good night out on the town, every once in a while.
Teen Challenge is hosting a Rubber Duck Race at Adrenaline Adventures on Saturday May 4, 2013. Yes, you heard that right, Rubber Duck Race.
This is a fundraising event for Teen Challenge, an organization that helps men and women who struggle with drug addiction. Ducks can be purchased for a $10 donation, and the winner takes a prize.
A great event for the whole family.
Lacoste Garden Centre is hosting a Spring Kick-off and Charity BBQ at their location, 2787 St. Mary's Road (just passed the Perimeter). Proceeds to the Charity BBQ go to MADD Winnipeg.
MADD - Mother's Against Drunk Driving is an organization dedicated to the fight against impared driving. Lacoste will also match the donations made during the BBQ.
Saturday, May 4 is the last day for the Winnipeg Wine Festival. This Saturday's public wine tasting event at the Winnipeg Convention Centre is SOLD OUT. If you have your tickets, FANTASTIC! If you're looking for some tickets, I've seen some tweets from folks looking to sell theirs. If you're at the right place at the right time, act quickly to get yours.
The Royal Winnipeg Ballet hosts Moulin Rouge - The Ballet has received some excellent reviews. Show times on Saturday, May 4 is at 7:30pm at the Centennial Concert Hall. Tickets are selling fast, there is only a limited selection remaining.
Sunday is CINCO de MAYO - Burrito Splendido at 3380 Portage Avenue will donate $1 for every burrito sold to Winnipeg Harvest. I've been there, and the burritos are DELICIOUS!
If you like craft sales, you may be interested in THIS - The Last Chance Spring Craft Sale is being held on Sunday, May 5th from 11am-5pm at the CanadInns Club Regent Casino Hotel, 1415 Regent Avenue West. Admission is $2, for Cancer Care Manitoba, children 12 and under are FREE. Mother's day is just around the corner, get Mom something special.
